Message from the School Nurse:
I work closely with parents, faculty, and students to maintain a healthy and safe environment for our students. Please keep your emergency contact information updated with the main office.

This year we welcome several students to our classrooms with food allergies. Reactions range from mild to life threatening. We invite your help and cooperation to help them stay safe. 

Health Office Reminders: 

• Children should stay at home if any of these symptoms exist:

• Fever – 100 degrees or greater

• Fever within the last 24 hours (without medications to reduce their fever)

• Vomiting/Diarrhea (24 hours, and feeling better)

• Unexplained rash

• Redness/drainage from eyes

• Coughing that does not stop  

• Head lice

Students should return to school when temperature is normal for the past 24 hours without fever reducing medication, and when the child feels well enough to be in school for a full day.

Please do not send in cough drops with your child.  Cough drops are not permitted in school as they present as a choking hazard for children.  Speak with your pediatrician about other options for cough suppression and relief of your child’s cough symptoms.

Medication Administration Notes:
No medication, under any circumstances can be administered by the nurse without a medication order form completed by your doctor. Medication will not be accepted or held at school without medical orders signed by a doctor and a parent/guardian. The medication prescribed should be sent into school in the original box as you receive it in from the pharmacy, with the pharmacy label attached. Please be sure to send in all the prescribed medication and supplies as ordered by the doctor.  For example:  Please send in Aero Chambers/Spacers/Tubing & Mask or Pipe for nebulizer medication & Benadryl as prescribed by the doctor for children with Benadryl and Epi Pen orders.  The health office does not provide this. For your convenience, forms can be downloaded and printed from the district’s website. From the homepage, click departments, health services, then district forms. New orders must be completed by your doctor and submitted every September. You may come to school at any time to administer medications to your own child without an order.
