Greetings from the Lincoln Elementary Library! It is so nice to be sharing physical books with the students again. Nothing makes me happier than to see their excitement as they talk about their books and watching them enjoy reading when I pass them in the hallways.

Due to construction, I am offering mobile library services this year.  I am bringing the library to the classrooms every week, alternating between reading stories to the students and helping them choose books to borrow. They have really been enjoying library time. Please encourage your children to challenge themselves with their selections and to be responsible with their books.

We have a new library website, "Destiny Discover", which is now accessible directly via Classlink.  It is very kid friendly and easy to navigate.  Students in grades 3-5 were instructed how to search for books, place holds, assign favorites and view their records.  I will also be sharing monthly book recommendations and news on monthly book themes on the website to offer fresh reading choices.

I am thrilled to share that our school had a major book purchase this summer, aided by a Title 3 grant, and we have over 500 new books being added to the catalog!  Many of these books feature diverse characters and multicultural stories of all ethnicities which help the students identify with the characters and understand other cultures and people in our communities. Students have already requested to borrow these books.

Your children are charming and inquisitive readers, and I am looking forward to sharing new experiences with them this school year. Please reach out to me if you have any questions at Carol.Berger@edison.k12.nj.us
